Frankfurt am Main, 17 October 2011. ConCardis is to offer acceptance of international credit cards Diners Club and Discover. This rounds out the company's credit card portfolio and provides merchants with access to a particularly profitable customer group.
Current data confirms that Diners Club cardholders have higher purchasing power and spend twice as much as other card schemes. These well-off clients particularly like the unlimited spending limit on the Diners Club card. Since the cardholders are typically frequent travellers, other services include free use of more than 400 airport lounges around the world, exclusive travel insurance and attractive discounts such as for car rental. Diners Club also offers its members several bonus programmes.
Diners Club was the world's first credit card and has been on the market for over 60 years. It is used by thousands of Germans and is accepted at more than 18 million merchant locations worldwide. Acceptance of Diners Club for ConCardis clients also includes settlement of Discover - one of the leading credit cards in the USA with tens of millions of cardholders.
"Discover has clearly been focused on growing its global network," said Manfred Krüger, CEO of ConCardis GmbH. "We decided to actively expand our acceptance network, and by offering Diners Club and Discover acceptance, provide merchants and service providers with access to an interesting new group of clients who like to be able to pay with their usual credit card when travelling. After all, Germany is a preferred European destination for US travellers. Diners Club and Discover settlement rounds off our portfolio; now it contains all major credit card brands."
"This agreement with ConCardis demonstrates Diners Club International's commitment towards rapidly expanding acceptance in popular travel destinations like Germany," said Gerry Wagner, Vice President of International Acceptance for Diners Club International. "Our relationship with a marketplace leader like ConCardis will bring more value, choice and convenience for Diners Club and Discover Cardmembers as they travel throughout Germany and the Benelux region."
